Bearing Cross-Reference Tool

Enter a bearing designation and get the equivalent across SKF, FAG, NSK, NTN and Koyo. The base number is shared between brands — only the seal, shield and clearance notation changes.

Most standard ball and roller bearings follow the same ISO numbering, so a 6205 is the same bearing whoever makes it. What differs is the suffix that describes seals, shields and internal clearance. Type your designation above to translate it between brands instantly, then request a quote and we'll source it.

Seal & shield suffix cross-reference

The same sealed or shielded bearing is written differently by each manufacturer. This is the notation the tool uses:

One contact sealRS1RSRDULURS
Two metal shields2Z2ZRZZZZZZ
One metal shieldZZRZZZ
Open (none)

Internal clearance is universal

Clearance codes are shared across all brands, so they carry over unchanged: C2 (less than normal), CN or no code (normal), C3 and C4 (greater than normal — common in electric motors). If the original is a C3, the replacement should be too.

Frequently asked questions

Is a cross-referenced bearing always a drop-in replacement?

No. The cross-reference matches the seal/shield and clearance notation, which covers most standard bearings. For high-speed, high-precision, high-temperature or specially-lubricated applications, confirm clearance, cage material, precision class and lubrication before fitting.

What does the suffix on a bearing number mean?

The base number (e.g. 6205) defines the type and bore and is shared between brands. The suffix describes the build — seals or shields (2RS1, DDU, ZZ…), internal clearance (C3), and cage material. Only the seal/shield part is brand-specific.

Which brands does the tool cover?

SKF, FAG (Schaeffler), NSK, NTN and Koyo (JTEKT). The same logic applies to Timken, NACHI and others — send us any designation and we'll cross-reference and source it.

Need a bearing sourced or cross-referenced?

Send us the designation — even a partial or worn one — and we'll identify a verified equivalent and respond within two business days, with pricing to follow once our supplier network confirms.
