About BECKHOFF
Beckhoff Automation is a German manufacturer of PC-based control technology, headquartered in Verl in eastern Westphalia. The company was founded in 1980 by Hans Beckhoff and grew out of an electrical business his parents had opened in 1953. Beckhoff pioneered the use of industrial PCs as machine controllers in place of conventional PLC hardware and initiated EtherCAT, the real-time industrial Ethernet system that has become a widely adopted open standard.
The product range spans industrial PCs and CX-series embedded controllers, Bus Terminal and EtherCAT Terminal I/O systems in IP20 and IP67 designs, AX-series servo drives with matching servomotors, and the TwinCAT automation software platform. Newer additions include the XTS linear transport system and the XPlanar planar motor system for flexible product movement.
Beckhoff technology is applied across machine building, packaging, building automation, and many other automation-intensive industries, supported by offices at more than 75 locations worldwide.
