About PILZ

Pilz GmbH & Co. KG is a German automation technology company headquartered in Ostfildern, near Stuttgart. The firm was founded in 1948 in Esslingen by Hermann Pilz, originally as a glass-blowing business, and was later developed by his son Peter Pilz into a supplier of electronic control and monitoring equipment. In 1987 the company patented its first emergency stop relay, establishing its focus on machine safety.

Pilz is best known for the PNOZ family of safety relays, which became among the most widely used devices of their kind worldwide and today spans lines such as PNOZ X, PNOZsigma, PNOZelog, and PNOZpower. The portfolio also includes PSS programmable safety control systems, introduced in the 1990s, along with safety sensor technology, monitoring relays, and machinery safety services such as risk assessment and training.

Its products safeguard machinery and personnel across machine building, packaging, and general factory automation.
