Hengstler GmbH is a German manufacturer of industrial counting and control components based in Aldingen, in southwest Germany. The business traces its roots to 1846, when Johannes Hengstler began producing gongs for clocks in his workshop. It moved into precision turned parts in 1912 and entered counting technology in 1926 with the acquisition of counter maker Efunda. Acquired by Danaher in 1995, Hengstler has been part of the US group Fortive since the corporate split in 2016.
The company is known for rotary encoders and counters. Recognized lines include the ICURO RI58 incremental encoder series and the ACURO AC58 absolute encoder series in single- and multiturn versions with interfaces such as Profinet, EtherCAT, Profibus, and CANopen, as well as the tico electronic counter family and industrial relays.
Hengstler components are used in machine tools, drives and motors, packaging machines, and other automation equipment.
